Sammamish is split between two school districts, so check the address, not the city. Northern Sammamish is mostly Lake Washington School District and feeds Eastlake High. Central and southern Sammamish, including Klahanie, Pine Lake, Beaver Lake and Trossachs, is mostly Issaquah School District and feeds Skyline High. Boundaries can change street by street, so always confirm a specific address with the district.

Most routes run north toward Redmond and SR-520, so it works well for Microsoft and the 520 corridor. Seattle commuters usually find Issaquah easier.

Things to Do

Lake Sammamish is the big draw in summer. Soaring Eagle Park has miles of wooded trails, and Pine Lake Park and Beaver Lake Park are local favorites for families. Golfers have Sahalee Country Club, The Plateau Club and Aldarra. Sammamish Commons hosts the farmers market and most city events.

Sammamish is deliberately residential rather than commercial, so its shopping and dining center on a couple of neighborhood hubs rather than a downtown core.

• Sammamish Village is the city's main civic and commercial center, anchored by a Metropolitan Market grocery store, local cafes, and medical offices.

• Pine Lake Village, on the Plateau's south side, centers on a QFC and everyday service businesses. For larger retail or a wider dining selection, residents typically drive 10–15 minutes down into Redmond or Issaquah.

• Is Sammamish walkable? Not really. It's a residential city built around cars. Sammamish Village and Pine Lake Village cover daily errands, and Soaring Eagle Park and the lake parks are great for getting outside, but most trips mean driving.

• Should I choose Sammamish or Bellevue? It depends on what you want day to day. Sammamish gives you more space and a quieter setting. Bellevue gives you a shorter Seattle commute, more restaurants and shopping, and a more urban feel.
